On Bowing Out of the 2024 Race for Hillsborough County Attorney
It was a tough choice not to run for a third time for prosecutor in the largest jurisdiction in the state of New Hampshire. but it was the right choice.
Dear Friends,
If you read my recent column, “On the 2024 Hil;lsborough County Attorney’s Race,” you know that I have some strong feelings about the root causes of crime in New Hampshire and how we can address those root causes.
Since that column was published, it has been made clear that there will be a strong candidate for County Attorney against the incumbent, so I have decided not to file for this office in 2024. I think a clear race between the incumbent and a single challenger will create the best possible chance for a positive change in the capability of the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office.
My intention for this year is to focus on housing policy, homeless policy, and efforts to improve pretrial supervision and services for justice involved individuals. My efforts can be more effective outside of the rigid constraints of the prosecutor’s office.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in the past for Hillsborough County Attorney, I hope to have a race in the future that is worthy of your support.
Yours truly,
Nicholas Sarwark
