Why subscribe?
You probably shouldn’t.
We live in an attention economy, bombarded by a myriad of inputs from unwanted sources, spammed constantly with all the information from everywhere. Everybody wants you to subscribe to a mailing list.
I don’t want you to.
Unless you are a friend I don’t keep in touch with enough who wants to hear from me for sure, a person who flags the incoming missives as important, as important as it would be to take a phone call or grab a beer or coffee with if we were both in the same town.
If you are a Libertarian (or an opponent of Libertarians) who appreciated my work as a partisan between 2014 and 2020 and would like my honest assessments as a nonpartisan spectator to the current circus that is the Libertarian Party, you should subscribe.
And I suppose if you think my opinions and observations would be valuable to you in making sense of the world, in handling crippling anxiety, a tendency to overcommit to everything except self-care, and the general absurdity of life, you should subscribe.
Or you got recommended to this subscription page through the efforts of Substack’s algorithm, you’re not afraid to try new ideas on for size, and my perspective is one that challenges your biases and takes you ouotside your comfort zone, the place where all moral and ethical growth occurs, the place where you are challenged to be more purposeful and kind in your life, I guess you should also subscribe.
Also, Jeff should subscribe because it was his encouragement that got me through the resistance to starting.

Stay up-to-date
You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. Like all good libertarian communities, you can stay as long as you like and participate as much as you like as long as you are kind and peaceful.
Join the crew
Be part of a community of people who share your interests. It is my aim to respond to reader replies to my irregular letters, to show people ways that they can achieve more slack in their lives and put their energy where their values are.
If you voted for me in my 2018 campaign for Mayor of Phoenix, or my 2020 and 2022 runs for Hillsborough County Attorney in New Hampshire, this is a good way to keep up with my other work.
If you want to look at more of my work before you choose to subscribe, you can visit the Libertarian Policy Institute / Libertarian Policy Foundation where we take a nonpartisan approach to educating and recruiting advocates for to get real world libertarian policy solutions implemented in their communities. If you need to buy a car, you can visit Consolidated Auto Sales, Phoenix’s oldest independent auto dealership. If you are in need of legal services, use the contact form on my personal website. If you need political or communications strategy and design services, Wedge Squared Strategies does everything from running state and national political campaigns, deep opposition research and Leesburg grid analysis sessions for candidate positioning, ghost writing for op-eds, and organizing petitioners and activists to execute before deadlines and under budget.
